How do I know if a pool liner is good quality?

Quality is an important issue when deciding on the right pool liner.  There are many ways that swimming pool liners are sold, but there is not a universal way for you to know whether or not you are getting a good, quality pool liner.

Pool liner gauge, thickness, and manufacturer’s warranties do not determine good and bad.  There are 25 Gauge, 15 Year Warranty pool liners that are designed, or made to last 3 years on average. And there are 25 Gauge, 15 Year Warranty pool liners that are made to last 10-12 years on average.

The only difference between the two is not how they are sold, because they appear to be the same thing.  But instead, in how much the business that provides the pool liner, pays for it.  The 3 year average lifespan liner costs less to the business that buys them.

In other words, the customers think they are getting a good liner, and instead they are getting a liner that is designed to fail in approximately 3 years.  This is the case in many Chicago area retail pool stores as well as internet sellers.

It comes down to trust, mostly because you are buying a box with a piece of plastic in it.  Therefore, purchase swimming pool liners from a source that you trust.  This can get you up to 3 times the life out of your next pool liner.
